Web
Site Technical FAQ
Some times the technical side of establishing a web
site can be quite daunting. Hopefully this FAQ should help clarify some
of these issues.
What is a domain name ?
A domain name locates a company or entity on the internet.
For example by typing in www.trackload.com you are will be taken to the
Trackload.com web site.
Do I need a domain name to have a web site ?
Strictly speaking, no. We can setup a web site for
you and store it on our servers as a sub directory. For example www.trackload.com/yourcompany.
However, we recommend that you register your domain name and use it
so that other people can easily find you on the Internet.
How do I register a domain name ?
You can register a .com domain name at several registration sites on the
Internet. The prices and services for these sites vary but will be between
US$20 - 35 per year. To register a domain name using your country specific
domain, for example www.yourcompany.co.uk or www.yourcompany.com.au, you
will need to find a site that registers those type of domains. Contact
our Technical Department is you would like us to register your domain
name on your behalf.
Can I use a .com domain name or do I have to use
my country specific domain (for example youname.co.uk) ?
You can use whatever domain name you like. We recommend
that you register both the .com domain name and your local domain. This
will help protect your companies name and will help avoid confusion.
What do I do with my web page once Trackload.com
has finished designing it ?
Once your web page is completed you will need to host
your web page. By hosting your page you are putting your web site files
on a web server that can be accessed by the public. Trackload.com offers
hosting servers or we we can help you find a suitably priced host.
If you have any more technical questions relating to your
web site our Technical Department
will be happy to help.
